This was a fantastic outing with great attendance. The troop enjoyed model rocketry, several stunning hikes and a food cook-off to end all cook-offs.
On the far-east side of the State Park, there’s a several mile drive through dried up riverbeds to the Wind Caves Trail. A hike a little over a mile long leads 250 feet up to a sandstone formation that overlooks the Carrizo Badlands. Wind erosion crafts the pockets in the sandstone that are fascinating to explore.
Back at camp, the troop took a hike down the Anza Borrego Palm Canyon trail to one of the largest palm oases in all of California. Pictures to follow.
